Great interest for the polymers topic

An international conference "Polymeric materials in packaging", organized by the Institute of Packaging and Graphic Arts Tectus – IatT, Tectus d.o.o. company and trade journal Ambalaža/REGprint from Zagreb, Croatia took place in Sheraton Hotel Zagreb on November 26, 2014.

As was mentioned at the conference, over the last 30 years the global polymer market has experienced a tremendous growth, and the areas where polymers find application keep on expanding every year.
Packaging is one of the areas where polymers are widely represented, which is best proven by the fact that over 50 per cent of all products on the EU market comes in plastic packaging, i.e. packaging obtained from polymers. The greatest share, even 42 per cent, belongs to packaging food products.

The fact that the topic of polymers is interesting for this region is obvious from great interest expressed by the participants. 110 participants from a total of 62 companies from Austria, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Poland, Slovenia, Serbia and of course, Croatia, followed presentations of prominent experts, connoisseurs of this topic with great interest.
The following are the topics discussed at the conference: development trends and directions on fast growing polymer market, characteristics and application of polymeric materials and their modification in packaging industry, role of polymeric packaging in food packaging, decreasing the weight of polymeric materials, challenges of nanotechnology, active multilayer polymeric packaging, products and marketing advantages of In Mould technology for polymeric packaging decoration, current legislation regarding packaging labeling and alternative solutions in production of plastic that can greatly contribute to environmental protection.

The following companies presented their offer to all those present at the conference: DuPont Packaging & Industrial Polymers, a globally renowned company that produces wide spectrum of adhesives, barrier materials and films, Rotoplast d.o.o. from Kerestinca, one of the leading producers of flexible packaging in the region, and Xeikon, a renowned Austrian producer of high-quality digital colour print devices for packaging printing markets.
