dPrint Held: Digital Printing is the Future

International conference "d PRINT – Trends in Digital Printing", organized by the Institute of Packaging and Graphic Arts, company Tectus from Zagreb and trade journal Ambalaža/REGprint was held yesterday at Dubrovnik hotel in Zagreb.

Despite the recession which hit hard on the printing industry, „dPRINT“ gathered more than 70 businessmen from Croatia and the region, and thus showed that „where there is a will, there is a way“ to find a business which requires a constant investment. Print service providers, print users, marketing agencies, packaging manufacturers and users and all others who came yesterday to hear what digital printing offers, can confirm that.

The participants had an opportunity to hear lectures from experts and representatives of leading companies in the field of digital printing: Xerox Ltd – branch office in Croatia, Konica Minolta  Croatia – business solutions, Professional Printing Solutions Adria Ltd, Xeikon Austria GmbH and Grafik.net Ltd.

The aim of the conference was to present possibilities and applications of digital printing as a basis for business development and the latest technical and technological achievements of machines, devices and equipment int he field of digital printing and packaging.

It was said yesterday that digital printing was no longer the future but the present.  But as some lecturers pointed out, before buying digital printing machine, every buyer should be familiar with the machine’s possibilities, ways of functioning, advantages, and last but not least, its limits. Igor Zjakić, Ph.D, from the Faculty of Graphic Arts, University in Zagreb, explained the ways in which is possible to meet the EU standards which will be imposed to Croatia and realistic expectations of digital printing quality.
Along with the seven interesting and useful lectures, an exhibition of machine and digital printing equipment providers was also held. Technological forum “Meet the buyers” was traditionally brought to visitors’ attention who took the opportunity to shortly discuss business related topics.

Whether it is a complement to the existing offset programme, offer expansion or starting a completely new business, digital printing is a precondition for survival on the market and its success depends on each printer's individual approach.

As Hrvoje Kokot from Grafo servis Ltd pointed out, the question „digital printing, yes or no“ turned out to be „digital printing, what and when“.
