"d PRINT" gathered more than 120 participants

International conference "d PRINT – Trends in Digital Printing", organized by the Institute of Packaging and Graphic Arts, company Tectus d.o.o. from Zagreb and trade journal Ambalaža/REGprint was held on September 16th 2010 in Hypo Centar in Zagreb.
Despite the recession which hit hard on the printing industry of Croatia and the region, "d PRINT" gathered more than 120 businessmen from the region: print service providers, print users, marketing agencies and producers and users of packaging. The participants had the opportunity to hear lectures from representatives of companies leaders in the area of digital printing: Agfa, Canon, Durst, Epson, Esko Artwork, HP Indigo, Kodak, Konica Minolta, OFI, Screen, Xeikon, Xerox and Zünd.

The aim of the conference was to present possibilities and applications of digital printing as a basis for business development and the latest technological achievements of machines, devices and equipment manufacturers for digital printing and packaging.

After the lectures, a technological forum "Meet the Buyers" was held, together with the exposition of digital printing products and equipment. The entrepreneurs recognized the value of the forum and took the opportunity to participate in short and useful organized business meetings.

According to the latest researches, 20 percent of global print has been produced digitally, while predictions say that the digital technology will permeate all printing segments, including high runs, and take lead by 2020.

The conclusion of the conference is that digital printing is more than just a printing technology but rather a new philosophy which promotes the printer into an active participant in the process of designing promotional material. Whether it is a complement to the existing offset programme, offer expansion or starting a completely new business, digital printing is a precondition for survival on the market and its success depends on each printer's individual approach.
